Lake Charles College Prep’s football program, known as the Trailblazers, is setting its sights on a championship run in the 2026 season after a heartbreaking overtime loss in the state quarterfinals a year ago.
The team’s offensive core will look markedly different, with star quarterback Dylan Vital returning from injury and two of his most reliable targets, Ayden Carter and Philip Hunter, both back in the fold.
A Revamped Offensive Attack
Carter, who shattered the school’s career yardage record with more than 3,000 total yards, will once again anchor the receiving corps, while Hunter’s explosive debut as a quarterback‑turned‑running back saw him rush for over 100 yards and four touchdowns in the opening game.
Adding to the mix is Javon Vital, a USC Trojans commit who will spend his senior year in Lake Charles, bringing additional depth and experience to a unit that coaches describe as one of the most talent‑dense in the program’s recent history.
Head coach Erick Franklin has kept his play‑calling philosophy simple: take advantage of every opportunity to score. ‘When we have the ball, we’re going to put points on the board,’ he said, emphasizing a fast‑paced, aggressive approach.
With a blend of returning veterans and fresh talent, the Trailblazers hope to translate their offensive firepower into a state title. The community and fan base are eager to see whether the team can finally finish what they started last season.
