A Nail‑Biter on the Diamond
The Ahnapee Trailblazers edged out the Manitowoc 17U squad by a 2‑1 margin in an eight‑inning contest that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
The decisive moment came in the bottom of the eighth, when Jack Higginbotham lined a single that brought home Jonah Dahms with the game‑winning run. Both Higginbotham and Dahms had driven in a run earlier in the game, but it was Higginbotham’s clutch hit that sealed the victory.
On the mound, the Trailblazers’ pitching staff combined for 13 strikeouts while surrendering only two hits and two walks. Jacob Massey opened the game with three innings, followed by Bo Tanck’s single‑strikeout frame and Connor Mueller’s stint, before Siggy Hansen shut the door with three hitless, walk‑free innings and seven strikeouts.
Offensively, Aaron Brey paced Ahnapee with three hits and a walk, while Higginbotham added two hits and a walk of his own. The balanced attack helped the team overcome a tight pitching duel.
The win lifted the Trailblazers to a 2‑6 record, and they are slated for road games later this week, beginning Thursday at Bay Port and continuing Saturday at Bonduel.
Looking Ahead
With a young roster still finding its rhythm, the Trailblazers hope to build on the pitching consistency and offensive firepower as they head into the next stretch of the season. Coach Dan Brosnan praised the team’s resilience and emphasized the importance of maintaining focus in upcoming matchups.
