Tremont’s baseball squad clinched the Class 1A state championship on Saturday, routing Putnam County 10-0 in a game that lasted just five innings.
A Season to Remember
The Turks struck early, plating three runs in the opening frame, adding five in the second and two in the third, while the Panthers could muster only two hits the entire contest.
Chase Rhodes earned the win on the mound, surrendering just two hits and striking out four batters, a performance that capped a 40-2 season for the champions.
The victory marks the culmination of a dominant campaign for Tremont, which finished the year with a 40-2 record, while Putnam County closed at 26-13.
Fans will now turn their attention to the town’s annual Tremont Turkey Festival, set to run this weekend as the community celebrates the team’s achievement.
