Tremont Turks Capture First IHSA 1A Baseball Championship
The Tremont Turks erupted onto the diamond on Saturday, securing the IHSA Class 1A baseball state championship with a 10‑0 shutout of Putnam County. The victory marks the program’s inaugural state‑tournament team title and only the second championship in school history.
The offense exploded early, plating eight runs in the first two innings and never looking back. Pitchers capitalized on the cushion, delivering a disciplined performance that kept the opposition scoreless for the remainder of the game.
A Milestone for the Program
Beyond the scoreboard, the win represents a historic milestone for Tremont athletics. It is the first time a team from the school has captured a state tournament title, and it adds to a legacy that already includes a second team championship.
In the consolation bracket, East Peoria fought back from a late deficit to defeat Crystal Lake South 7‑6, securing third place in Class 3A. The dramatic finish underscored the competitive spirit across the state tournament.
