Middle Tennessee State University announced this week that Trent Frederick will join its women's soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach, bringing a wealth of experience in player development, recruitment, and tactical analysis.
A career built on winning
Frederick spent three seasons at the University of Tampa, where he helped the program rebound to a 15‑win season and secured a return to the Sunshine State Conference Championship in 2025. His tenure was marked by a strong emphasis on recruiting and strategic planning that translated into on‑field success.
Over the past four years, he has been an active presence throughout the Sunshine State Conference, serving at Saint Leo University and Florida Southern College. At Eckerd College, he contributed for 2½ seasons, assisting the Tritons in capturing 11 victories during a challenging COVID‑19‑impacted schedule.
From club leadership to campus impact
Frederick’s 20‑year club soccer career includes tenures as a College Advisory Director and staff coach at Orlando City Soccer School, as well as a decade with Florida Rush, where he served on the National Select and Regional Select coaching staffs. He also directed the Rush National Coach Mentor/Mentee program, mentoring emerging coaches across the country.
His club experience is complemented by a stint at Kansas Wesleyan University, where he coached both the men’s and women’s teams to four regular‑season and three tournament championships, earning two NAIA regional bids. During that period he coached 27 All‑Conference players, three Conference Player of the Year awardees, and four All‑Americans.
Frederick played collegiately at Kansas Wesleyan, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. He captained the team for three seasons and received United States Soccer Federation and Football Association of England certifications. In his new role at MTSU, he will oversee recruiting, video analysis, team training, on‑field coaching, and overall player development, reinforcing the program’s competitive edge.
