A Quiet Leader in Bloomington
Trent Sisley, a sophomore guard for the Indiana Hoosiers, is the only scholarship player who returns from last season’s roster, giving him a unique platform as the team’s sole veteran scholarship athlete.
Freshman forward Vaughn Karvala has already named Sisley as his primary point of reference, describing the upperclassman as a leader who guides newcomers through the transition to college basketball.
During the offseason, Sisley has turned his attention to three key areas — defense, strength, and quickness — working with the training staff to add muscle and improve his lateral speed.
Embracing the Mentor Role
Beyond his own development, Sisley now serves as a sounding board for teammates, offering advice and reassurance as the freshmen adjust to the pace and physicality of Big Ten play.
His commitment to Indiana has never wavered, even when his on‑court minutes fluctuated during his freshman year, and he remained steadfast through a recent coaching change that reshaped the staff.
Sisley’s high school pedigree includes a career scoring record at Heritage Hills, where he honed his game before attending Montverde Academy, a prep school that prepared him for the rigors of Division I.
Statistically, he averaged 4.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13.2 minutes per game last season, with nine outings of 17 minutes or more, underscoring his ability to make an impact when given the chance.
Now comfortable in his leadership role, Sisley embraces the responsibility of shaping the team’s culture and helping the next generation of Hoosiers find their footing.
