Historic Homecoming
The Trenton Ironhawks have made a landmark announcement, revealing their first five signings in franchise history, each of whom was born and raised in New Jersey. The move signals a deliberate effort to reconnect the team with its regional roots while injecting fresh talent into the roster.
Luke Antonacci, a native of Princeton, returns to the Garden State after a collegiate career that spanned the University of Maine and the ECHL, culminating in a USHL championship with the Sioux City Musketeers. His journey from local youth hockey to national competition underscores the breadth of experience the Ironhawks are bringing in.
John Gelatt, hailing from Middletown, adds a seasoned ECHL presence after a full year with the Utah Grizzlies, where he recorded 24 points across 72 games. His offensive contributions and familiarity with the league’s pace should provide depth on the blue line.
Anthony Firriolo, a Towaco product, brings professional ECHL experience from stints with the Atlanta Gladiators and the Iowa Heartlanders during the 2025‑26 season, giving the squad a proven track record in high‑level play.
Mikey Colella, raised in Turnersville, combines college hockey credentials from Northern Michigan and Canisius with a standout junior season in the BCHL with the Trail Smoke Eaters, highlighting his versatility and offensive spark.
Nick Carabin, a Mahwah native, contributed 29 points in 80 games for Princeton before completing his collegiate tenure at the University of Connecticut, blending academic discipline with on‑ice production.
Collectively, the five players embody a mosaic of NCAA, ECHL, and junior hockey backgrounds, spanning the USHL, NAHL and BCHL, and their shared New Jersey heritage promises to energize fans and reinforce the Ironhawks’ identity as a community‑driven organization.
