Trever Berg appointed Assistant Coach and Director of Baseball Operations at UNLV

Former CSN standout brings playing and coaching experience to the Rebels

Berg Joins UNLV Baseball Staff

Trever Berg has officially joined the University of Nevada, Las Vegas baseball program as the team’s new Assistant Coach and Director of Baseball Operations, a move announced by head coach Nick Garritano on Tuesday. The appointment marks a strategic addition to the Rebels’ staff as they look to build on recent successes.

Berg arrives after a two‑year stint as pitching coach at Colorado Northwestern Community College, where he honed his ability to develop arms and shape game strategy. Prior to that, he served at the College of Southern Nevada, working directly with outfielders, overseeing hitting and baserunning drills, and coordinating the program’s recruiting efforts alongside Garritano during the 2025 season.

From Player to Coach

A former standout for the Coyotes, Berg helped the team capture the SWAC regular‑season title and the Region XVIII championship in 2019 before completing his collegiate eligibility at the University of Texas Permian Basin. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Coaching from UTPB and later completed a Master’s degree in Coaching from the University of Northern Colorado in 2024.

Before his collegiate career, Berg was a multi‑sport athlete at Basic High School in Henderson, excelling in baseball, basketball and tennis. His early versatility and competitive drive have been cited by Garritano as key qualities that will translate into the Rebels’ development pipeline.

The hire underscores UNLV’s commitment to blending proven playing experience with modern coaching methodology. As the program prepares for the upcoming campaign, Berg’s background in both strategy and player development is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of Rebel athletes.
