A new chapter for Eastern Michigan baseball
Eastern Michigan University announced this week that Trevor Beerman will assume the role of head coach for the Eagles baseball program, bringing to campus a blend of on‑field acumen and off‑field leadership.
Beerman previously served as interim head coach during the 2026 season and has built a reputation as one of the nation’s emerging recruiters, player developers and program builders. Before arriving in Ypsilanti, he honed his craft at Chatham University, where he helped set school records for wins, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, RBI, and walks, and earlier contributed to the University of Charleston’s recruiting efforts.
During the 2026 campaign the Eagles posted a 19‑34 overall record and a 12‑21 mark in Mid‑American Conference play, yet the season was marked by solid offensive production — 95 doubles, 79 stolen bases, 245 walks and 392 strikeouts on the mound. Defensively, the team posted a .975 fielding percentage, ranking fifth in the MAC and 78th nationally.
Academic excellence accompanied the on‑field work, with the program achieving a department‑best team GPA of 3.481 in the Winter 2026 semester. Catcher Nick Weaver earned MAC All‑Defensive Team honors after leading the conference and ranking third nationally with 28 runners caught stealing.
Looking ahead
Beerman’s vision centers on competitive excellence, academic achievement and community engagement, a trifecta that he says will guide the Eagles as they aim to climb the MAC standings and strengthen ties with local fans. Recent investments of nearly $2 million in upgrades at Oestrike Stadium, including a new turf playing surface and enhanced player development technology, underscore the university’s commitment to the program’s future.
