Trey Flesch has been appointed assistant coach of the Lindenwood Women's Hockey program for the 2026‑27 season, bringing a blend of playing pedigree and coaching experience back to the university where he once guarded the net.
A Lion's Legacy Revisited
Flesch’s collegiate career at Lindenwood spanned 2012 to 2016, during which he backstopped the Lions to a national championship in 2016. The goaltender’s performance helped cement his status as one of the program’s most memorable alumni.
After graduation, he began his coaching journey as a graduate assistant for the Lindenwood ACHA Men’s team in 2016, a role that laid the groundwork for his subsequent positions at Mercyhurst University and the University of Maine.
From Mercyhurst to Maine and Beyond
At Mercyhurst, Flesch contributed to five straight appearances in the AHA Tournament Final, culminating in a 2025‑26 run to the championship game. His tenure at Maine from 2018 to 2022 saw the Black Bears compile 52 victories and secure three consecutive Hockey East Semi‑Final berths, underscoring his ability to develop elite goaltenders.
Beyond the collegiate ranks, he has lent his expertise to the USA Hockey National Camps, focusing on goaltending development, and has pursued advanced degrees, earning both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s from his alma mater.
Returning to Lead the Next Generation
The upcoming 2026‑27 season will see Flesch collaborate with head coach Max Gavin, whose own playing background includes a stint with the university’s club program. Together, they aim to translate his championship experience and developmental insights into sustained success for the women’s team.
Fans and alumni alike anticipate that his dual perspective — as a former Lion and a seasoned coach — will enrich the program’s culture and competitive edge as it prepares for the new campaign.
