Former NFL running back Trey Watts recently hosted a free flag football clinic at Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas, opening the field to girls from five to eighteen years old.
A Clinic With a Cause
The event, branded as Girlpower Flag Football Dallas, attracted roughly one hundred participants of varying skill levels, all eager to learn the fundamentals of the game in a supportive environment.
Watts, who once walked on at the University of Tulsa before a two‑year NFL stint that ended with an indefinite suspension for a substance‑abuse policy violation, now travels the country as a motivational speaker and author of The ALTAR Method: From Broken to Restored.
Speaking about the clinic, Watts explained that his own daughter’s early experiences sparked the idea, prompting him to create a space where girls could see themselves as belonging on the field.
He emphasized that confidence on the gridiron often translates to confidence in other areas of life, a message he hopes will resonate beyond the final whistle.
The Dallas clinic is the first of several planned sessions slated for the fall of 2026 and the spring of 2027, each aiming to expand access to flag football for young women across the region.
Local parents and coaches praised the initiative, noting that the inclusive approach not only teaches sport but also builds community and resilience among participants.
