The Tri‑City United Soccer Club is set to kick off its annual Summer Classic this weekend, a showcase that has become a cornerstone of youth soccer in the Upper Midwest.
A tournament of scale and community
This year’s edition will feature 246 teams representing youth programs from across North Dakota, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and even Canada, underscoring the event’s growing reach.
Beyond the competition, the tournament is projected to generate more than $2 million in economic impact for the Fargo‑Moorhead region, a boost that ripples through local businesses, hotels and restaurants.
Scheels, the regional sporting goods retailer, is sponsoring the event and will officially open the tournament on Friday, June 19, 2026, marking the start of a weekend of matches.
Games will be staged at three state‑of‑the‑art complexes: the Pepsi Soccer Complex in Fargo, the Moorhead Soccer Complex in Moorhead, and the West Fargo Soccer Complex in West Fargo, each prepared to accommodate the influx of athletes and families.
Organizers say the tournament not only provides a platform for emerging talent but also strengthens community ties, drawing visitors who contribute to the local economy and foster lasting connections across the region.
