From Iowa to the Big 12
Ikegwuruka began his collegiate journey at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa, where a redshirt year gave way to a breakout sophomore campaign that saw him average a double‑double of 19.0 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Representing Ireland at the 2019 FIBA European U16 Division B Championship, he gained early international exposure before moving abroad to compete in the Czech Republic's 1. Liga with GBA Lions Jindrichuv Hradec and the U19 squads of GBA Lions and Sojky Pelhrimov. In seven senior appearances for GBA Lions he posted 14.1 points, 8.7 rebounds and three assists per game, underscoring his adaptability in different basketball cultures.

During his two‑year stint with the Kansas State Wildcats, Ikegwuruka appeared in 24 games, primarily as a reserve, and recorded a career‑high eight points with three steals against Oklahoma State.
