A Historic First for Tennessee High School Sports
The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) is set to crown its first-ever state champion in flag football during the 2026 season, marking a major milestone for the rapidly growing sport.
The championship tournament will take place on May 14 and 15 at the Richard Siegel Soccer Complex in Murfreesboro, a venue that has become the epicenter of the state’s flag football activities.
Brackets, Teams, and Competition Format
Both Class A and Class AA divisions will compete in separate brackets, with pool play determining seeding before the knockout rounds. Class A features schools such as Pearl‑Cohn, Jackson North Side, Coalfield, Gordonsville, Creek Wood, MASE, Silverdale and Merrol Hyde, while Class AA includes powerhouses like Overton, West Creek, Bearden, Blackman, Ravenwood, Arlington, Walker Valley and Mt. Juliet.
A detailed schedule outlining pool play matchups and subsequent bracket play will be released in the coming weeks, giving fans a clear roadmap of each team’s path to the title.
Championship Game Times
The Class A championship game is slated for 4 p.m. on May 15, followed by the Class AA title match at 6 p.m., promising a double‑header that will showcase the best of Tennessee high school flag football.
