Undefeated Virginia champions prepare for the Tournament of State Champions in North Carolina

Undefeated Champions Gear Up for National Showcase

The Tuckahoe Little League baseball team, a group of 9‑ to 11‑year‑olds from Purcellville, Virginia, finished the season unbeaten, posting a flawless 10‑0 record to capture both the District 5 title and the Virginia state championship.

Their remarkable run earned them a spot in the Tournament of State Champions, a national showcase that will take place in Wilson, North Carolina, beginning on August 8, where they will meet the best under‑12 teams from across the Southeast.

The tournament format features three pool‑play games followed by a single‑elimination bracket, and Tuckahoe’s first opponents are Florida on August 8 at 11:45 a.m., Tennessee on August 9 at the same time, and South Carolina on August 10 at 2:30 p.m., all at Southern Bank Stadium.

Earlier in the state tournament the team swept six games, outscoring opponents 81‑34, having beaten Lee 17‑1, Virginia Beach 19‑12 and York County 23‑6 in pool play before advancing through single‑elimination with a walk‑off win over Caroline County, a 10‑5 victory against Vienna National and a 3‑2 triumph over Southwestern (SYA).

At the plate the squad posted a team batting average above .540, highlighted by Cam A.’s .706 average, which included eight doubles and three triples, while the pitching staff combined to shut out opponents over 18 innings, with Cam A., Carter G., Logan W. and Kyle S. sharing the workload.

In the championship game Conner T. threw five innings, allowing just one run and striking out six, underscoring the depth of the rotation.

Fundraising efforts through a GoFundMe campaign are covering travel, lodging, meals and equipment costs, allowing the players and their families to focus on competition.

The team is guided by manager Dan Shriver, with assistant coaches Jonathan Albis and Matt McGroarty helping to steer the young athletes through the upcoming challenges.
