Tulane University’s 2027 football recruiting class experienced a dramatic expansion over the weekend, more than doubling its previous count and reaching a total of 13 pledges. The surge reflects a growing confidence in the Green Wave’s program as coaches capitalized on a series of official visits.
The Crown Jewel
Among the new commitments, three‑star wide receiver Ray’Quan Williams from St. Augustine High School stands out as the most highly touted prospect. Williams, who held offers from powerhouse programs such as Arkansas, Ole Miss, LSU and Florida State, chose Tulane, adding a dynamic playmaker to the roster.
The class also welcomed cornerback James Tyson from St. Charles Catholic High School, a student with a 3.5 GPA and elite speed that attracted interest from Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech, Cornell, Columbia and Nicholls. Offensive tackle Jackson Shaw from Catholic High of Baton Rouge, who transitioned from defense to the line, pledged after receiving offers from Tulane, Texas State, Houston, North Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas State. Versatile athlete Peyton Perkins from Eupora, Mississippi, who rushed for 1,907 yards and 25 touchdowns last season, also committed, projecting as a running back or wide receiver at the collegiate level.
These additions have transformed Tulane’s recruiting landscape, turning a modest six‑player class into a competitive group that could shape the program’s trajectory for years to come. The momentum generated by these commitments suggests that the Green Wave may continue to attract top talent from across the Gulf Coast and beyond.
