Tulare Union High School is set to usher in a new era at the quarterback position as sophomore Kylan Henderson prepares to take the helm for the 2026 season, succeeding Jordan Crisp, who concluded his tenure after a standout run and moved on to College of the Sequoias.
Henderson arrives with more than just a strong arm; he brings a championship pedigree, having led the Tigers to a title in the Roger Kelly Redwood Passing Tournament, a 7‑on‑7 competition where his squad edged Immanuel for the crown.
His ascent is underscored by familial ties to the program. Braylan Henderson, Kylan’s older brother, currently anchors the offensive line for Fresno State and previously wore a Tulare Union jersey under head coach Darren Bennett, who is now in his 32nd season with the Tigers.
The receiving corps will be anchored by senior wideout Demaje Riley, a Fresno State verbal commit who has amassed over 3,000 career receiving yards, and Frankee Allen, a returning starter and cousin of former Tulare Union star Kazmeir Allen, who adds both experience and chemistry to the mix.
Adding depth at running back, sophomore Osie Early will transition from defensive end to a 6‑1, 190‑pound back, providing a versatile weapon for the offense.
The offensive line returns four of its five starters, including left tackle Rex Del Real, left guard Chaos Quintana, center Favian Brito and right tackle John David Tenhet, who together helped the Tigers compile nearly 5,000 yards and 67 touchdowns in the previous campaign.
A challenging schedule ahead
Tulare Union will face a demanding slate in 2026, as every opponent from last season’s playoff field returns, featuring powerhouses such as Division III champion Kennedy and Division I‑A champion Bakersfield Christian.
Coach Bennett expressed confidence in the team’s offensive growth, noting that the combination of a dynamic quarterback, experienced receivers and a seasoned line creates a foundation for a competitive run.
The excitement surrounding the squad extends beyond the field, as the community anticipates a season that could redefine the program’s trajectory, leveraging both tradition and the fresh talent injected by Henderson and his peers.
