On June 8, the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa will transform into a vibrant hub of sport and culture as the Turkish soccer team, known as Team Türkiye, hosts a community day open to the public.
Visitors can sample an array of traditional Turkish dishes prepared by Güscht Döner Haus, including doner wraps, baklava and Maras ice cream, while enjoying the sounds of country music band Campbell Blue Creek.
The day will also feature family‑friendly activities such as soccer clinics run by the Arizona Arsenal Soccer Club and live demonstrations of Ebru, the centuries‑old Turkish art of marbled paper.
Live Practice: The Main Attraction
The centerpiece of the event is a live practice session by Team Türkiye, scheduled from 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Although all tickets for the practice have sold out, Visit Mesa is offering an Instagram giveaway that could secure a spot for lucky fans.
The giveaway, which opens at 10 a.m. on June 1 and closes at 10 a.m. on June 3, requires participants to follow @VisitMesa, @AZGrounds and @CityofMesa on Instagram, then follow the instructions posted in the giveaway announcement.
Winners will be notified via direct message on Wednesday afternoon, giving them a chance to meet the players, obtain autographs and capture photos during the practice.
Beyond the competition, the event aims to foster cultural exchange and community connection, blending sport with food, music and art in a celebration that highlights the growing diversity of Mesa.
