Academic Excellence Among Hockey East Scholars
The Hockey East Conference revealed its 2025‑26 men's all‑academic team, honoring 21 student‑athletes who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The recognition spans programs across the league and underscores the conference’s commitment to academic achievement alongside athletic competition.
Among those celebrated are two graduating senior defensemen from the University of Massachusetts, Owen Murray and Kennedy O'Connor, who earned Distinguished Scholar status for the fourth consecutive semester. Their dedication to both scholarship and sport exemplifies the Minutemen’s balanced approach.
Three additional UMass players — Bo Cosman, Michael Hrabal and Jackson Irving — join them as three‑time honorees, having previously appeared on the academic team multiple seasons. Their consistent performance reflects a deep‑rooted culture of excellence within the program.
The university also saw ten athletes receive All‑Academic distinction for the second time in their careers, while six freshmen earned their first placement: Jack Galanek, Justin Kerr, Lukáš Klecka, A.J. Lacroix, Owen Mehlenbacher and Elias Zimmerman. Their early induction signals a promising future for the team.
