Ty Moss, a former quarterback whose high school career at Whiteville left a lasting imprint on local football, returned this summer to run the fourth annual football camp hosted by Columbus County Parks and Recreation Department at Legion Stadium.
The camp, which ran for a week and welcomed children between six and fourteen, blended skill drills, team‑building exercises and one‑on‑one coaching sessions, all framed around four simple rules that Moss says define the sport and life.
'Respect, have fun, learn, and compete,' Moss told the campers, emphasizing that those pillars are the foundation for any dream, on the field or off.
Moss, who once racked up more than 1,800 passing yards and over 1,000 rushing yards in his senior season, also earned the title of Columbus County Player of the Year twice, a testament to his dual‑threat ability.
After starring at Whiteville High, he pursued a psychology degree at East Carolina University before transferring to Tennessee Tech, where he helped the team capture back‑to‑back conference titles in 2024 and 2025, posting records of 6‑2 and 8‑0 before a 11‑2 finish.
