Tyasha Harris, a former standout point guard for the University of South Carolina, has been selected for the South Carolina Association of Lettermen’s Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2026, a testament to a career that reshaped the Gamecocks' legacy.
A Career Defined by Excellence
Harris anchored the Gamecocks from 2016 through 2020, guiding the program to its first national championship in 2017. In the championship game she contributed six points and five rebounds, and earlier that tournament she scored five points in the final 1:04 to upset Stanford in the semifinal.
Her senior season culminated in a 32‑1 record and an undefeated run through SEC play, earning her WBCA All‑America first‑team honors, first‑team All‑SEC recognition and the SEC Athlete of the Year award. Over her collegiate tenure she amassed 702 career assists, the most in South Carolina history.
Selected seventh overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft by Dallas, Harris has since worn the colors of Connecticut and now the Indiana Fever, where she led the league in three‑point percentage in 2023. This offseason she signed with the Fever, continuing a professional journey that reflects both skill and resilience.
The Hall of Fame induction places Harris alongside other pioneers of the Dawn Staley era, including Tiffany Mitchell, who was inducted in 2024, and A’ja Wilson, who will be honored in 2025. Their collective stories illustrate a period of sustained excellence that has left an indelible mark on collegiate and professional women’s basketball.
As the Gamecocks community celebrates this milestone, Harris’s legacy serves as a benchmark for future point guards, embodying the blend of leadership, shooting precision and playmaking that defined her era.
