Tyden Bergeson, a senior standout from Moorhead, was crowned the 2026 Mr. Hockey Award winner, a distinction that marks the first back‑to‑back recipient for his program since 1993.
During the 2025‑26 campaign he recorded 81 points in 31 games, breaking down into 29 goals and 52 assists, and helped the Spuds capture their second straight Class 2A state championship.
After a stint in the USHL with the Madison Capitols, Bergeson chose to finish his high school season with Moorhead before committing to the Penticton Vees of the Western Hockey League, where his younger brother Tate also signed.
The award ceremony, organized by the Minnesota All Sports Alliance, featured remarks from Bergeson’s parents, Rachel and Bryant, and highlighted the family’s deep roots in the local hockey community.
Mason Kraft and Brian Lee, previous Spuds who earned the same honor, are now heading to Minnesota State and North Dakota State respectively, underscoring a pipeline of talent from the program.
A New Chapter for the Spuds
Bergeson’s move to the WHL is seen as a test of his adaptability across leagues, a narrative that resonates with scouts tracking his development.
The recognition also reflects the broader investment in youth hockey across the region, with organizations like Augustana College and North Dakota State University monitoring the next generation of players.
As the hockey world looks ahead, Bergeson’s blend of skill, work ethic, and family legacy positions him as a focal point for upcoming prospects.
