Lexington Minutemen star caps a historic season with a suite of accolades and a district championship run

The Mansfield News Journal has crowned Tyler Galownia, a senior at Lexington High School, as its 2026 Baseball Player of the Year, recognizing a campaign that blended offensive firepower with ace‑level pitching.

At the plate, Galownia posted a .321 batting average, collecting 27 hits that included five doubles, a home run and 18 runs batted in. He also scored 31 times, drew 30 walks, was hit by a pitch eight times and stole eight bases, underscoring his all‑around offensive threat.

Dominance on the Mound

On the mound, he served as the team’s ace, posting a 1.64 earned run average over 59 ⅔ innings while striking out 72 batters. His 72‑strikeout total and sub‑2.00 ERA anchored a pitching staff that helped the Minutemen secure a pivotal district semifinal victory.

The semifinal win sent Lexington back to the district championship game for the first time in nine years, a milestone that has energized the program and its fan base.

Galownia’s performances earned him multiple first‑team honors, including Division III All‑Ohio, All‑District 9 and All‑Ohio Cardinal Conference selections, cementing his status as one of the state’s most accomplished seniors.

Beyond the statistics, his leadership and consistency have been credited with raising the team’s competitive spirit and setting a benchmark for future Minutemen.
