A Return to Familiar Grounds
Tyler Jones has been named the 12th head coach of the Marian University men’s basketball program, taking the reins of a program with a proud tradition and a hungry fan base eager for a resurgence.
During his earlier stint as an assistant at Marian, Jones helped steer the team to 38 victories and a berth in the NACC Tournament Championship game, showcasing his ability to translate strategy into results.
He also guided the university’s men’s golf program to a program‑record stroke average, earning him the NACC Co‑Coach of the Year honor and underscoring his versatility across sports.
Before returning to Marian, Jones spent five seasons at Aurora University, where he compiled three winning campaigns and captured a NACC Tournament championship, building a foundation of sustained success.
His coaching journey began in the Continental Basketball Association, where he captured a league championship and was recognized as Coach of the Year, a testament to his early impact on professional‑level competition.
Jones has also mentored several former NBA players, including Kevin Ollie, Rick Brunson and Adrian Griffin, who have credited his development approach for their professional growth.
Educational Foundations
He holds a bachelor’s degree in intercultural studies from Trinity International University and an MBA from Concordia University Chicago, blending cultural insight with business acumen.
