Tyler Lloyd Appointed Head Baseball Coach at Frenship High School

A former graduate returns to lead the program, bringing 12 years of coaching experience and a family tie to the district.

Frenship Independent School District has named Tyler Lloyd as its new head baseball coach, a move that underscores the district’s commitment to continuity and community-driven leadership.

A Homecoming for a Young Coach

Lloyd, a 2015 graduate of Frenship High School, returns to the place where his baseball journey began, having spent the past four years guiding the Tulia baseball program to a resurgence that included a 20‑win season and the team’s first playoff berth in seven years.

His playing days at Lubbock Christian University on scholarship saw his team reach back‑to‑back NAIA World Series appearances, experiences that shaped his competitive edge and deepened his appreciation for the sport’s developmental nuances.

Over the last twelve years, Lloyd has amassed a breadth of coaching experience, including four years as a head coach, during which he cultivated talent and instilled a culture of character alongside athletic performance.

In 2025, he rejoined Frenship as an assistant coach before stepping into the top role, a transition that reflects both his intimate familiarity with the district’s expectations and the confidence placed in him by district officials.

Beyond the diamond, Lloyd’s personal life is intertwined with the community: his wife, Kenzi Lloyd, is also a Frenship alumna and will serve as a reading interventionist at Bennett Elementary, while their two sons, Nathanael and Nolan, are set to enroll there next fall.

Lloyd says his primary aim is to uphold Frenship’s high standards, develop not only skilled players but also responsible young men, and to build on the foundation laid by his predecessors.

Looking Ahead

The district’s leadership expressed optimism that Lloyd’s blend of local roots, academic insight, and coaching acumen will steer the program toward sustained excellence, reinforcing the district’s broader mission of fostering well‑rounded student‑athletes.
