Spirit of Service Recognized
Middle Tennessee State University’s senior catcher Tyler Minnick was honored this week with Conference USA’s Spirit of Service Award, a distinction that celebrates student‑athletes who excel in community engagement, scholarship and competition.
Community Impact
Minnick’s service portfolio reads like a community playbook: he spent countless hours volunteering with Special Olympics Tennessee, organized the Murfreesboro Miracle League to give children with disabilities a chance to play baseball, and spearheaded a Reading in Schools Day that brought the joy of literature to John Pittard Elementary.
Academic Excellence
Academically, he maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA in the university’s Business Administration program, earning a spot on the CUSA All‑Academic Team and the Commissioner’s Honor Roll, underscoring a commitment that mirrors his performance on the field.
On the Diamond
On the diamond, Minnick compiled a 43‑game on‑base streak, ranked among the league’s top ten in runs batted in and doubles, and set a program record with 461 putouts in a single season, while also throwing out 17 would‑be base stealers — the most in the conference.
