Tyson LeBlanc shatters records in record‑breaking Kansas baseball season

Junior shortstop earns national honors and helps Kansas capture three titles

Tyson LeBlanc, a junior shortstop for the University of Kansas baseball program, capped a breakout 2026 campaign that will be remembered as one of the most prolific in school history.

National accolades

The recognition extended beyond conference play. Six national outlets named him an All‑American, and he was selected as the NCBWA District 6 Co‑Player of the Year. He also earned the Most Outstanding Player award at both the Lawrence Regional and the Big 12 Tournament.

LeBlanc finished the season batting .341, amassing 87 hits, 12 doubles, 69 RBIs, 64 runs scored, 38 walks and 11 stolen bases. His 25 home runs set a new single‑season record, while his 180 total bases ranked second all‑time in Kansas annals.

Kansas capitalized on the individual brilliance, capturing three championships during the season and finishing with a 45‑18 overall record. The team stood alone as the only Division I program to post at least 45 wins, 20 conference victories and 20 road wins.

The achievements were acknowledged by a host of national baseball organizations, including D1Baseball, the College Baseball Foundation, Perfect Game, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, Baseball America and the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings.
