A historic roster
USA Hockey unveiled its 20‑player roster for the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup on Tuesday, setting the stage for a campaign that will unfold across two European nations.
Among the selected athletes are two former Maryland Terps, Leah Crouse and Emma DeBerdine, whose collegiate careers helped shape their rise to the senior national team.
Crouse’s international résumé
Leah Crouse, who completed a graduate year with Maryland in 2022, has earned 72 caps for the U.S. women’s national team, a testament to her consistency and defensive prowess.
DeBerdine’s leadership role
Emma DeBerdine, a five‑year Terp who paused her studies to train full‑time, was named one of two captains for the upcoming tournament. She brings 69 international appearances and the experience of a recent breakout at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The tournament itself will be staged from August 15 to 30, split between Belgium and the Netherlands, marking the first time the event is co‑hosted across two countries.
With a blend of seasoned veterans and emerging talent, USA Hockey hopes to translate its strong collegiate pipeline into a deep run in the world championship.
