The University at Albany men's soccer team took the field against Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday, only to see the contest cut short after 45 minutes when a sudden turn in the weather made the pitch unsafe.
From the outset the Great Danes pressed forward, with Caleb Vallance and Yuta Kimata each testing the FDU defense. Both strikers found their efforts repelled, while Alexander Genz, the UAlbany keeper, made a decisive save to preserve the deadlock.
FDU's Jeramie Pelade opened the scoring chances with a shot that Genz turned aside, and later Charles Giordano's attempt in the 43rd minute was also blocked, underscoring the defensive intensity of the first half.
As the half‑time whistle approached, dark clouds gathered and rain began to fall, prompting officials to reassess playing conditions. The worsening atmosphere led to the decision to abandon the match entirely.
