UCLA’s basketball team is set to welcome a quartet of transfers that could reshape its lineup for the coming season. Each newcomer arrives with a distinct skill set and a track record of collegiate performance, promising to add depth and versatility to the Bruins’ roster.
A Look at Each Addition
Filip Jovic, a sophomore forward, spent last season at Auburn where he averaged 6.3 points and 4.0 rebounds across 37 appearances. His size and rebounding ability should provide a reliable interior presence for UCLA.
Sergej Macura, also a sophomore, contributed 5.0 points and 4.8 rebounds in 28 games for Mississippi State. Listed as a junior this fall, he retains two seasons of eligibility, giving the Bruins a flexible option on the wing.
Jaylen Petty, a guard who began his college career at Texas Tech, posted 9.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 33 games as a freshman. His scoring punch and playmaking could help alleviate pressure on the backcourt.
Azavier Robinson, another freshman guard, recorded 6.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 22 games for Butler before a left wrist injury forced the premature end of his season. Despite the setback, his all‑around contributions were noted by coaching staff.
The transfers will be joined by incoming freshmen Javonte Floyd and Joe Philon, who bring additional depth and future potential to the squad.
Eligibility and Outlook
All four transfers are classified as sophomores, granting them three seasons of eligibility each. This provides UCLA with a rare combination of experience and long‑term planning flexibility as the program looks to compete within the Pac‑12 and beyond.
The additions come at a time when the Bruins are aiming to rebuild after a challenging previous campaign. With a blend of proven collegiate production and promising youth, the coaching staff anticipates a more competitive roster heading into the upcoming schedule.
