Big Ten Media Days Highlight Bruins’ Preparations
The Big Ten Conference will host its annual Football Media Days in Chicago on July 29, bringing together coaches and top players from across the league for a three‑day showcase of storylines, interviews and live coverage.
Among the UCLA representatives, head coach Bob Chesney will lead the delegation. In his first year at the helm of the Bruins, Chesney brings a proven track record after guiding James Madison to a 21‑6 record and a College Football Playoff appearance.
Joining him will be quarterback Nico Iamaleava, a 6‑foot‑5 senior from Long Beach who enters his fourth collegiate season and second with UCLA. Iamaleava has completed 449 of 702 career pass attempts for 4,858 yards and 34 touchdowns, and he helped the Bruins snap a three‑game winning streak that included a victory over No. 7 Penn State.
Defensive back Cole Martin, a Pasadena native, also earned a spot at the event. Martin started all 12 games last season and was a key piece of a secondary that limited opponents to just 196.6 passing yards per game in 2025, finishing fourth on the team with 65 total tackles.
Linebacker Sammy Omosigho, a transfer from Oklahoma, rounds out the Bruins’ contingent. The versatile defender contributed 50 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks for the Sooners before joining UCLA, adding depth to a unit that expects to build on last season’s momentum.
Media days will feature a packed schedule of interviews, with Chesney appearing on the Big Ten Network set at 1:45 p.m. PT, followed by Iamaleava, Martin and Omosigho at 2 p.m. The event will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network and streamed via the FOX Sports app, giving fans across the country a chance to hear directly from the coaches and players.
UCLA’s season officially opens on Saturday, September 5, when the Bruins travel to Berkeley to face California at Memorial Stadium. The home opener at the Rose Bowl against San Diego State is slated for September 12, kicking off at 4:15 p.m., setting the stage for a promising debut under Chesney’s leadership.
