The summer of 2026 brings a rare distinction for UCLA athletics as three of its standout players have been chosen to wear the red, white and blue on the world stage. Easton Hawk and Wylan Moss, both pitchers, earned spots on the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, while infielder Aleena Garcia secured a place on the U.S. Women's National Softball Team.
Baseball’s Road to Taiwan
Hawk and Moss will travel to Taichung City, Taiwan, to compete in the World Collegiate Baseball Championship, a tournament that runs from Saturday through July 15. Hawk, who posted 14 saves with a 1.93 ERA in 42 innings this season, joins Moss, whose 2.49 ERA over 65 innings helped him transition into a starter later in the year. Their inclusion reflects a broader trend of UCLA contributing multiple athletes to the national roster, one of only six schools with that distinction.
Softball’s International Push
Garcia’s selection to the U.S. Women's National Team adds another layer of excitement for the Bruins. She will participate in the World Baseball Softball Confederation World Cup Group Stage and the USA Softball International Cup. During her sophomore season she batted .358, hit 22 home runs and drove in 69 runs, underscoring her offensive impact.
The upcoming competitions promise high‑stakes matchups and a chance for the Bruins to showcase their talent on a global arena. With the tournaments drawing near, teammates, coaches and fans alike anticipate how these athletes will translate their collegiate success into international triumphs.
