A Dual Arrival
The University of Connecticut has confirmed the addition of two transfers who will join the program for the 2026‑27 campaign. Guard Jaye Nash, a 6‑3 native of Memphis, and forward Isaiah Shaw, a 6‑8 prospect from Phoenix, signed letters of intent this week, bolstering the Huskies’ frontcourt and backcourt depth.
Nash arrives after stints at Tulsa and Jacksonville State, where he logged 5.1 points, 4.0 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game in his most recent season. A three‑star recruit out of McEachern High in Powder Springs, Georgia, he is known for his playmaking instincts and leadership on the floor.
Shaw, who has passed through Grand Canyon, Valparaiso and Northern Arizona, averaged 8.1 points and 2.1 rebounds while also contributing a modest 1.0 steal per game at Northern Arizona. Standing at 6‑8, his shooting range and versatility make him a potential matchup problem for opposing defenses.
Both players share a familial connection to basketball royalty. Isaiah Shaw’s father, Casey Shaw, was a second‑round pick in the 1998 NBA Draft, and his uncle, Bryce Drew, now serves as head coach at Grand Canyon University. The lineage adds a narrative of continuity and ambition to Shaw’s profile.
Head coach Dan Hurley praised the newcomers, stating that Nash’s experience and Shaw’s size complement the existing core. “They bring a blend of skill and toughness that aligns with our vision,” Hurley said in a statement released by the athletic department.
The additions come as UConn looks to rebound from a challenging previous season and re‑establish its presence in the Big East conference. With a recruiting class that includes these transfers, the program hopes to blend youthful talent with proven collegiate performance.
Fans can expect to see Nash and Shaw integrated into the lineup during the preseason exhibition games, where their chemistry with returning players will be closely monitored. The coaching staff remains optimistic that the new pieces will help restore the Huskies to contention.
