Depth Chart Outlook
UConn’s coaching staff has made it clear that adding a reliable backup power forward is a priority as the team prepares for the next campaign, while also reinforcing the third‑string center role.
Recruit Isaiah Shaw, who arrived as a depth piece, is expected to see limited minutes, and the program has secured a power forward to serve as a direct backup for Nik Khamenia.
At the center position, Oskar Giltay will continue as the primary backup, but the team also benefits from the 6‑foot‑10, 260‑pound presence of Najai Hines, who led the Big East in blocks last season.
The roster also welcomes Elmir Dzafic, an Arkansas transfer who will operate as a third‑string center, adding another option for rotational minutes.
In the backcourt, Junior County and Nils Machowski are viewed as comfortable options at point guard, while sophomore Braylon Mullins may see increased playing time at that spot.
Beyond the X’s and O’s, former standout Stephon Castle remains deeply connected to the UConn program, underscoring the lasting impact of recent successes.
