A New Era for UConn Recruiting
The University of Connecticut’s football program is buzzing after adding three standout athletes to its 2027 recruiting class, a move that pushes the total number of committed players to 21 and signals a bold new direction for the program.
De’Shawn Wylie, a safety from Georgia, announced his decision to flip his commitment from Tulane to UConn on Instagram. In his senior season he recorded 56 tackles, four tackles for loss and an interception, and he entered the recruitment cycle with offers from Navy, Cincinnati and Wake Forest.
What This Means for the Program
Curtis Ellis Jr., a versatile playmaker from Florida, revealed his verbal pledge to UConn via X, highlighting his dual-threat abilities. He hauled in 17 receptions for 317 yards and six touchdowns while also rushing for 293 yards and five scores, and his recruitment was bolstered by a slate of 21 offers including Georgia Tech, Cincinnati and Mississippi State.
Raymond Liggins III, another receiver from Illinois, likewise committed to the Huskies on X, having attracted interest from Kentucky, Miami, Missouri, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Last season he amassed 20 catches for 393 yards and six touchdowns and added 50 rushing yards, underscoring a blend of speed and reliability that could reshape the team's offensive dynamics.
The influx of talent reflects a strategic shift that the coaching staff sees as a cornerstone for a more competitive roster in the years ahead, as the program aims to translate its recruiting momentum into on‑field success.
