The University of Connecticut men's basketball program announced the commitment of Russian forward Egor Amosov to its 2026‑27 roster, marking a notable addition to the team's frontcourt.
A Versatile Prospect
Amosov arrives after a standout season in Spain's Liga U, where he was crowned Player of the Year and guided Real Madrid Los Blancos to the championship title.
During that campaign he averaged 14.6 points, six rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.5 steals across 30 league appearances, showcasing a blend of scoring and defensive versatility.
Head coach Dan Hurley described the newcomer as an exciting young prospect who can stretch the floor and provide depth at the forward position.
Building a Balanced Roster
The Huskies will field a 15‑player lineup that combines five returning veterans with ten newcomers, a mix that includes high school recruits, U.S. transfers and international signees.
Among the U.S. transfers are Nik Kahmenia, who previously played at Duke, Na’jai Hines from Seton Hall, Jaye Nash from Jacksonville State and Isaiah Shaw from Northern Arizona.
Additional international arrivals include Nils Machowski from Germany, Oscar Giltay from Belgium and Elmir Dzafic from Bosnia and Herzegovina, adding further geographic diversity to the squad.
Coach Hurley emphasized that the expanded roster not only raises the competitive edge during practice but also offers opportunities for younger players to develop under pressure.
With a blend of experience and fresh talent, the Huskies hope to translate this depth into a strong performance in the upcoming season.
