UConn taps NBA veteran Charlie Stevens as general manager
UConn’s men’s basketball program has named Charlie Stevens its new general manager, tapping an NBA front‑office veteran to steer the program’s basketball operations. Stevens will oversee player development, scheduling, roster construction, revenue generation and the broader business strategy that keeps the Huskies competitive at the highest level.
During a five‑year tenure with the San Antonio Spurs, Stevens rose to director of grassroots scouting, where he helped identify and nurture talent that eventually contributed to the club’s 2026 Western Conference championship. His scouting portfolio includes the discovery of NBA Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle, a former UConn standout, and he brings a network of NBA‑level connections to the college ranks.
Joining Stevens as Assistant General Manager is Andrew Hurley, a UConn alum who earned two national titles as a player and finished his collegiate career with a perfect 43‑0 record. Hurley’s deep familiarity with the program, combined with his recent experience as a graduate assistant, positions him to bridge player development and administrative duties.
Connor Creech, a graduate assistant with a background in analytics, will serve as Video Coordinator and Director of Analytics. Having previously worked at Texas and Northern Colorado, Creech will lead video scouting, player evaluation and the integration of data‑driven insights into practice and game preparation.

Creech’s analytics expertise is expected to deepen the program’s ability to assess talent, optimize training regimens and personalize development plans, while Hurley’s operational experience will streamline day‑to‑day management and scheduling.
