UConn Women’s Basketball Postpones Florida State Matchup, Opens Slots for New Opponents

Coach Geno Auriemma confirms delay as Huskies reshape non‑conference schedule for 2026‑27

Postponement Confirmed

UConn’s women’s basketball program announced that its scheduled non‑conference road game at Florida State will be postponed, a decision confirmed by head coach Geno Auriemma after the recent UConn Coaches Road Show in Southington.

The postponement removes the final match of a two‑game series with the Seminoles and marks the third consecutive season that the Huskies have traveled to Florida for regular‑season contests. With the Seminoles now off the slate, UConn finds itself with two open slots in its non‑league slate for the 2026‑27 campaign.

The Huskies have already locked in ten non‑conference opponents, including Michigan, Iowa, South Carolina, Duke and Maryland, while also renewing ties with Notre Dame, Louisville, Ohio State and Tennessee. New home‑and‑home series will begin with Michigan and Iowa, and a three‑game stretch with Duke will start this coming season, featuring Sarah Strong’s senior homecoming in 2027‑28.

Looking Ahead

The program also noted that forward Ice Brady, who transferred to Florida State after entering the portal, will sit out the 2026‑27 season while recovering from knee surgery, leaving the possibility of a future reunion in Tallahassee if UConn returns there in 2027‑28.

The NCAA’s decision to extend the regular season to 32 games starting in 2026‑27 gives the Huskies additional flexibility, allowing them to fill the newly available non‑conference slots while staying within the Big East’s 20‑game conference schedule.
