UConn Women’s Hockey Adds Elite Recruits Ahead of Postseason Push

New forwards and defenders join the Huskies after a near‑miss at the Frozen Four

The University of Connecticut’s women’s hockey program concluded the 2025‑26 season with a 28‑9‑2 record, a performance that fell just one win short of the Frozen Four after a hard‑fought regional final loss to Penn State.

Head coach Chris MacKennzie, who guided the Huskies through that near‑miss, announced the arrival of a new Class of 2030 that promises to bolster the squad’s depth as they aim for a deeper postseason run.

The incoming group features a mix of forwards, defenders and a goaltender, each bringing a résumé of high‑level competition from junior and prep circuits across North America.

A Fresh Batch of Talent

Laurie Aubin, a Quebec native who captured a U18 national title with Team Quebec, joins after a standout season at Stanstead College, while Caprie Chaulk adds Ontario experience from the Durham West Junior Lightning and a stint with Team Ontario at the U18 Women’s National Championship.

Addison Stewart arrives from New Trier Township High School in Illinois, where she earned All‑Selection honors four times and served as team captain, and twins Caileigh and Chelsea Tiller bring Burlington Barracudas experience, with Chelsea setting a franchise record for points by a defender.

Grace Riley, hailing from Winter Garden, Florida, but refined her game in New England, earned All‑NEPSAC recognition, and Amelia Wilkinson rounds out the class after a stint with Durham West Lightning and participation in the 2025 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship.

The coaching staff believes the blend of proven winners and fresh legs will translate into a more aggressive forecheck and tighter defensive structure, key ingredients for a run at the national title. Fans can expect to see a faster tempo in the upcoming season, as the new recruits bring both size and skill, and the program’s depth chart looks poised to compete with the nation’s elite.
