The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo announced that its men’s and women’s soccer teams have been selected for the 2025–26 United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Awards, a distinction that celebrates programs maintaining a collective grade point average of at least 3.0.
A Rare Dual Recognition
Only 175 colleges across the nation achieved the milestone of having both their men’s and women’s squads honored simultaneously, underscoring the consistency of academic standards within the program.
Across the country, 777 collegiate soccer programs received the academic honor, with 326 men’s teams and 451 women’s teams acknowledged for their scholarly achievements.
UH Hilo’s athletic leadership emphasized that the recognition reflects the university’s broader commitment to fostering student‑athlete development, emphasizing that success in the classroom is viewed as integral to the collegiate experience.
The university’s soccer squads join a growing list of programs that view academic distinction as a core component of competitive excellence, positioning them as role models for peers nationwide.
