New Faces Join UMass Lowell Women's Soccer

Hannah Callaghan, a native of Sydney, Australia, arrives as a goalkeeper with a reputation for commanding presence between the posts, having captured back‑to‑back U23 National Premier League titles with Sydney University.
Claire Ormonde, hailing from Oshawa, Ontario, brings a versatile midfield skill set and defensive acumen honed through a decorated high‑school career with Pickering FC and multiple Ontario Player Development League championships.
Briana Thomas, a Burlington native, earned the 2026 Outstanding Female Athlete Award at her high school and was a three‑time Middlesex League All‑Star, known for her tenacious defensive contributions.
Ines Pietikainen, from Espoo, Finland, adds attacking flair after stints with HJK Helsinki and experience on the Finnish U19 and U18 national teams.
Head coach Mira Novak praised the quartet, stating that each newcomer offers a distinct set of abilities that will enrich the squad’s tactical options and competitive spirit.
Season Opener and Home Debut
The River Hawks will open their regular season on August 12 in Providence before returning home for their first matchup on August 16 against Fairfield, setting the stage for an exciting campaign.
