UNC Baseball Secures Top Seed for 2026 NCAA Super Regional
The University of North Carolina’s baseball program entered the 2026 NCAA Tournament as the No. 5 overall seed, earning the right to host the Chapel Hill Super Regional at Boshamer Stadium.
The Tar Heels will face Southern California in a best‑of‑three series that opens on Friday, June 5, with Game 1 scheduled for a 3 p.m. first pitch and a broadcast on ESPN2.
Game 2 is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, and will be televised on ESPN, while the decisive third match, if needed, will also air on ESPN.
Both games are part of a broader slate of super regionals running from June 5 to June 8, culminating in the College World Series in Omaha from June 12 to June 22.
UNC is chasing its 13th appearance at the College World Series and its first national championship, while USC brings a nation‑best 12 titles and 21 CWS berths to the matchup.
The Chapel Hill Regional is paired with the Auburn Regional, meaning the winners will eventually meet either Auburn or Ole Miss in the Omaha finals.
Rodd Baxley, a longtime collegiate baseball writer for The Fayetteville Observer, noted the significance of the seed, saying the Tar Heels’ positioning reflects a season of consistent performance and strong pitching.
Fans can watch the action live on ESPN2 and ESPN, with streaming options available through ESPN+ and Fubo, ensuring coverage across traditional TV and digital platforms.
The NCAA’s official site will provide updates, brackets and additional statistics as the tournament progresses.
