Head coach Bill Belichick has made it clear that the success of the new recruiting class will be measured by how quickly the newcomers can adapt to the ACC’s physical demands. ‘We need these players to hit the ground running,’ he said during the recent preseason camp.
A Roster in Flux
The most notable departure is that of 3‑star offensive lineman Lauifi Tosi, who chose Stanford over a list of suitors that included Boise State, Washington State, Eastern Michigan, Idaho and Sacramento State. Ranked 119th nationally and 34th among interior linemen in Arizona, Tosi’s move adds depth to a Stanford roster that is being reshaped by new head coach Tavita Pritchard.
UNC’s schedule promises to be as demanding as ever. The team opens the season with a rematch against TCU in a neutral site game in Ireland, travels to face ETSU for its home opener on September 12, and then heads to Clemson for the ACC opener. Each of those matchups will test the team’s resilience early in the year.
Despite the loss of Tosi, coaches and players remain confident that the program’s momentum can be sustained. The Tar Heels believe that performing well this fall could attract additional recruits to Chapel Hill, reinforcing the university’s appeal on the West Coast and beyond.
