The University of North Carolina Wilmington’s men’s basketball program has announced the addition of two promising guards ahead of the 2026‑27 campaign, Xavier Brown and William Kermoury, both of whom bring a blend of experience and shooting prowess that coaches hope will elevate the team’s competitiveness.
A Strategic Boost for the Seahawks
Brown, a native of Williamsburg, Virginia, arrives after a collegiate career that spanned stints at South Florida and James Madison, where he logged 652 points and 196 assists across 98 games, including 47 starts. In the most recent 2024‑25 season he averaged 10.7 points and 2.7 assists, numbers that reflect a steady contribution over multiple programs.
Swedish sharpshooter William Kermoury, who spent the 2025‑26 season with the Huskies, led his team in scoring with 13.1 points per game and shot an impressive 40.2 percent from three‑point range. He demonstrated his ability to explode for high outputs, highlighted by a career‑best 36‑point performance against Charleston and 18 games of double‑digit scoring, five of which topped 20 points.
Head coach Takayo Siddle praised the newcomers, emphasizing that both players possess the skill set and community‑focused mindset that align with the program’s vision. “Xavier and William bring a level of professionalism and work ethic that will positively impact our squad on and off the court,” Siddle said in the announcement.
What This Means for the Program
The transfer class also features Spencer Elliott, Treyvon Maddox, Tyler Nelson and Tahlan Pettway, rounding out a roster that aims to blend veteran leadership with fresh talent. With the new backcourt pieces in place, the Seahawks are poised to contend more aggressively in the Colonial Athletic Association and to attract further recruits who value a dynamic, growth‑oriented environment.
Fans and analysts alike are already speculating on how the added depth will translate into on‑court chemistry, especially given the diverse geographic backgrounds of the newcomers. The infusion of talent from both the United States and Europe underscores the program’s expanding recruiting footprint, a trend that could herald a new era of sustained success for UNCW basketball.
