UNCW announced that its men's basketball, men's soccer and women's soccer squads have been honored with the Coastal Athletic Association's Academic Excellence Awards, recognizing the programs that posted the highest cumulative grade point averages within each sport.
Award Winners by Sport
The men's basketball team finished the 2025‑26 academic year with a 3.25 GPA, while the men's soccer program posted a 3.60 GPA. The women's soccer team captured the top spot with a 3.75 GPA, marking the second straight year it has earned the CAA Academic Excellence Award.
Beyond individual teams, the entire Department of Athletics achieved a school‑record 3.571 GPA across all 19 varsity programs during the same period, underscoring a campus‑wide commitment to academic performance.
A Milestone in Consistency
The women's soccer program's 3.75 GPA not only secured the award but also placed it third among all varsity teams on campus, reflecting a sustained pattern of scholarly achievement that began with its first consecutive win the previous season.
