The University of North Dakota's football program announced that its 2027 recruiting class has reached 16 prospects following a well-attended prospect camp. The influx of talent underscores the program's rising profile and the impact of its recent investments in facilities and coaching.
Five new athletes pledged to the Fighting Hawks, including Bryce Johnson Jr., Parker Fulton, Luke Grube, Isaiah Friese, and Shane Reiersgaard. Each recruit cited the school's modern training amenities, the expertise of the coaching staff, and the vibrant team culture as primary reasons for their choices.
Shane Reiersgaard, who previously held offers from North Texas, Sacramento State, Northern Arizona, and Southern Utah, expressed particular enthusiasm for the campus environment. He highlighted the quality of the weight room and nutrition services, noting that the hospitality shown by the coaching staff made him feel at home.
Parker Fulton, transitioning to the fullback position for college recruiters, shared that the move aligns with his ambition to compete at the Division I level. He said the opportunity to develop under the current staff felt like the right next step for his career.
Luke Grube arrived with offers from St. Thomas, Drake, and several top programs within the Northern Sun Conference. He praised the university's weight room, nutrition options, and the genuine warmth of the coaching staff, which helped seal his decision.
Isaiah Friese impressed the staff with his agility and flexibility during camp drills. He said he is eager to join the team culture and work closely with coaches Schmidt and Olson, believing the program offers the ideal platform for his growth.
Bryce Johnson Jr. brings a strong junior-year pedigree, having amassed 980 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. He also held an offer from Northern Iowa, but his final choice leaned toward UND, where he hopes to contribute immediately.
The commitments reflect a broader trend of the program attracting talent that values both athletic development and academic opportunity. With a robust support network and a clear pathway to the field, the 2027 class is poised to make a significant impact on the Fighting Hawks' future successes.
