Savannah’s youth flag football scene revives
The Under the Lights Flag Football League is gearing up for its second season in Savannah, bringing organized flag football to young athletes across the city.
Open to boys and girls from kindergarten through fourth grade, the program emphasizes fun, safety and skill development, and it returns to the historic Calvary Day School campus.
Clinic, practices and schedule
The action begins with a skills clinic scheduled for August 31, followed by team practices on September 8. From there, a six‑game regular season kicks off on September 14, culminating in a playoff round on October 26.
All events are held on the school’s fields, providing a consistent venue that families have come to trust. Organizers say the league’s national roots add credibility while keeping the focus local.
Community impact and participation
Beyond competition, the league aims to foster teamwork and confidence among participants, offering a positive alternative to traditional tackle football. Parents and coaches alike have praised the inclusive atmosphere and the chance for children to stay active during the summer.
