The University of Cincinnati announced the addition of Marta Fernández to its women's basketball program, securing the 5‑foot‑4 point guard for the 2026‑27 season. Fernández, a native of Spain, signed with the Bearcats after a standout international career that includes a gold medal with the Spanish senior team and a championship run with the U20 side at the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket.
During the recent EuroBasket tournament, Fernández posted averages of 6.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 47.1% from the field and 50% from three‑point range. She also logged three double‑digit scoring performances, underscoring her ability to impact games in multiple ways.
International Pedigree
Prior to joining Cincinnati, Fernández played for Recoletas Zamora in Spain’s LF Challenge league, the country's second‑tier professional circuit. Her stint there followed a period of rapid development that culminated in a championship title with her U20 national team, a milestone that highlighted her leadership and clutch performances.
