University of Evansville Baseball Stars Shine at MVC Awards

Freshman sensation Spike Magill headlines All-MVC honors as Aces gear up for tournament

Freshman Standout Leads the Way

The University of Evansville’s baseball squad celebrated a remarkable season as five of its athletes were recognized on the Missouri Valley Conference’s all‑star teams.

Spike Magill, a freshman, captured the league’s Freshman of the Year award and earned spots on both the All‑MVC Second Team and the All‑Defensive Team, underscoring his immediate impact.

Veteran pitcher Max Hansmann reinforced the Aces’ rotation with a 3.38 earned‑run average and 213 strikeouts, securing a place on the All‑MVC First Team.

Other contributors included Drew McConnell, who started every game and posted a .253 average, and Chris McCormack, whose 3.40 ERA and 29 strikeouts in conference play earned him an Honorable Mention.

Reid Haire also received defensive praise, making the All‑Defensive Team while batting .260 with eight home runs and 31 RBIs.

The Aces are now set to face Southern Illinois in the upcoming MVC Tournament, a matchup that promises to test the depth and talent of a team that has already made a strong impression on the conference stage.
