The University of Hartford’s men’s soccer program is gearing up for the 2026 campaign with a clear ambition: to capture double‑digit victories for the third straight year, a milestone last achieved during the 1990‑92 season. The Hawks finished the previous year at 10‑6‑2, secured the fourth seed in the Conference of New England, and fell in the opening round to Western New England University by a 2‑1 margin.
A Season of Momentum
Building on that momentum, Head Coach Mike Kulas returns with a roster reshaped by both departures and arrivals. Nine seniors departed after 2025, but the coaching staff welcomed 18 newcomers, including goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards, to fill the gaps and deepen the squad.
Key Returners Lead the Charge
Among the returning leaders, Brayden Tahiliani stands out as a two‑time CNE All‑Conference second‑team defender who started 17 games in 2025, logged 1,532 minutes and contributed three goals from the back. Goalkeeper Cristian Vitti, who posted a 2‑3 record and a 1.40 goals‑against average in limited action, will now be entrusted as the team’s primary shot‑stopper. Senior Ron Palillo, who appeared in all 18 matches last season and scored twice, aims to finally break the program’s playoff drought that has lingered since 2019.
Building Chemistry Amid Change
To foster cohesion, the squad has embraced a series of team‑building outings, from weekend trips to pasta parties that ease the transition for newcomers into college life. These gatherings are designed to weave the fresh faces into the existing fabric, ensuring that the influx of talent translates into on‑field chemistry.
Road Tests and Home Opener
The 2026 schedule opens with two road matches against the University of Saint Joseph and Trinity College in September, followed by a much‑anticipated home debut against Eastern Connecticut State University. Hartford will contest ten league fixtures, targeting another CNE playoff berth after consecutive fourth‑seed finishes in the past two years.
Broadcast and Coverage Plans
All home games will be streamed live on the CNE Network powered by HUDL, while additional coverage and highlights will be available through the 2026 schedule home page, giving fans multiple avenues to follow the team’s progress throughout the season.
